Donald Driver’s 2008 season was another
record breaking season for the all-time
receiving leader in Lambeau Field
history. Donald’s 1,012 receiving yards
made him the first Packer in history to
mark six 1,000 receiving yard seasons.
Donald also extended his consecutive
games with a catch streak to 111 games,
breaking Sterling Sharpe’s franchise
record in Week 10 against Minnesota.
Off the field Donald once again hosted
Inside the Huddle with Donald Driver,
his statewide TV show, which completed
its sixth season in 2008. Every Tuesday
Donald talked football with “The Green
House” on AM 620 WTMJ, Milwaukee’s
number one rated radio station. He also
was at the center of marketing campaigns
of top companies such as Goodwill, Jani-King
and Time Warner Cable. Donald also wrote
his first children’s book, Quickie Makes
the Team, which was inspired by Donald’s
bedtime story telling with his two
children. |

Driver is regarded as the Green Bay
Packers’ most versatile and agile pass
catcher. “He’s just to me an excellent
football player, a great leader for our
group of receivers, a true professional
and a hard-working guy in practice”,
stated Green Bay receivers coach Jimmy
Robinson. A top performer his entire
career, Driver has been a three time Pro
Bowl selection (2002, 2006 and 2007).
Donald has led the Packers receiving
attack over the past seven seasons
accumulating over 7,400 yards and 40
touchdowns. In 2007 Donald became
Lambeau Field’s all-time leader in
receptions, surpassing Antonio Freeman
in just the Packers’ third game of the
season. Not just a star football player,
in college Donald excelled in track and
field as well as in football at Alcorn
State. He also qualified for the 1996
Olympic Field Trials in the high jump.
In addition to being extraordinary on
the field, Donald is also a true role
model off the field. Persevering through
incredible setbacks has sparked Donald
to become one of the most active Green
Bay Packers in the community; making
over 300 appearances since his rookie
1999 season. In the spring of 2001,
Donald and his wife Betina created the
“Donald Driver Foundation”, which offers
assistance to ill children with
unmanageable hospital bills, provides
housing for the homeless, and donates to
a variety of local charities. In
December of 2003, the foundation put two
previously homeless families in new,
fully furnished homes. |

Donald has also donated much of his time
and efforts to such institutions as
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and
Goodwill Industries. In 2001, Driver was
awarded the “Community Service Award” by
the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce in
recognition of his outstanding community
involvement.
Donald also received the Walter Payton
Man of the Year award in 2002, the only
NFL award that recognizes off-the-field
community service as well as playing
excellence. In 2005 he was awarded the
Ed Block Courage award by his Green Bay
teammates. If Donald Driver is a Pro
Bowl player on the football field, he is
surely an MVP in life. |
